On this day, the ninth of the noble and blessed month of Muḥarram, we ask Allah, glorified and exalted, to make the deliverance of the people of faith in it like the deliverance of Mūsā, upon our Prophet and upon him be blessings and peace, and of his people from the might of Pharaoh, his injustice and his brutality against those people, which took place on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ. O Allah, amīn, O Lord of the worlds.

The mission of Mūsā: rescuing people from tyranny

The message of Mūsā, peace be upon him, to Pharaoh was: send the Children of Israel with me. His mission was to rescue those people from the tyranny that Pharaoh exercised over them. And every nation has its Pharaoh, and every nation has its Mūsā.

The lesser and the greater servitude

For the most part, we are slaves to our habits and to what we have grown used to. So when Allah, blessed and exalted, wills to rescue someone from his first servitude, that is a sign of his deliverance from the greater servitude, under tyrannical regimes that respect no covenant or pledge toward people, and have no regard for their humanity or for anything at all. The Lord of the worlds, glorified and exalted, has laid down such ways for us through the words of the Prophet ﷺ.

I ask Allah to grant us on this day of ours safety, well-being, security, peace, tranquility and His good pleasure, and to provide us with lawful, wholesome and blessed provision. O Allah, amīn, O Lord of the worlds. May Allah reward you with good and bless you.
